NPFVOA 20th Anniversary

Working conditions at sea are inherently dangerous. There are no technological means of removing all the hazards of the sea, nor can human error be entirely eliminated. However, the actions of a well-trained crew can make the difference between survival in an emergency at sea, or tragedy. The best constructed and equipped vessel is only as good a risk as the people who own and operate it.

Knowledge and preparation are vital to survival. NPFVOA provides hands-on safety training and education to boost emergency preparedness for skippers and crews.

The NPFVOA Vessel Safety Program is a non-profit association totally dedicated to safety education and training for mariners. Developed in cooperation with the U.S. Coast Guard in 1985, NPFVOA remains the model safety program for commercial fisherman. Attendance has exceeded 33,000 and includes the commercial fishing, workboat and passenger vessel industries. Classes are conducted in Seattle as well as in coastal communities throughout the U.S.

This non-profit organization is dedicated to providing safety education and training to mariners. Its Seattle, Washington location at Fisherman’s Terminal is the hub of commercial fishing in the North Pacific.

SAFETY CLASSES SCHEDULE

NPFVOA Vessel Safety Program offers 12 Coast Guard-approved hands-on safety training classes for mariners of all kinds, including commercial fishing, small passenger, workboat, recreational, and research vessel crews.
